The New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association announced on April 1 that Dartmouth’s Big Green have been recognized as the conference’s Open Sailors of the Week. The honor follows a strong showing at the Marchiando Team Race, where six sailors contributed to a second-place finish for Dartmouth.
This recognition highlights the team’s recent success and marks their highest finish of the season in their first NEISA race. Bella Casaretto, Madeline Koelbel, Phoebe Lee, Lilly Baker, Ryan Satterberg, and Chase Decker sailed for Dartmouth at the event.
The team started by dropping their first race but rebounded with seven consecutive wins to end day one with a 7-1 record. On Sunday, they continued their momentum by winning six more races to reach a 13-1 record before falling to Harvard in the final race. Both teams finished with identical records, but Harvard won on tiebreaker criteria.
Dartmouth will return to competition this weekend at three separate regattas: the Open Team Race New England Conference Championship (Fowle Trophy) hosted by Brown University, as well as events at Yale and Tufts. Live results from all three competitions will be available online.
Looking ahead, these performances set an encouraging tone for Dartmouth’s sailing program as they continue through their spring schedule.
