Dartmouth baseball concluded its regular season on May 10 with a doubleheader loss against Yale in New Haven, Connecticut. The Bulldogs secured victories of 3-2 and 4-1 over the Big Green.
The outcome marks the end of Dartmouth’s season with an overall record of 15-25 and a conference record of 7-14. The games held significance as they were the final contests for Dartmouth under Interim Head Coach Blake McFadden this year.
In the first game, Dartmouth managed to tie the score at two runs apiece in the third inning after A.J. DeMastrie hit a double that brought home Austin Moran and Sam Andersen. However, Yale quickly regained the lead in their half of the inning following a hit by pitch and a double. Despite having runners on base in several innings—including loading them in the fourth—Dartmouth was unable to capitalize further, falling short by one run.
Nate Kugler started for Dartmouth, allowing three runs on seven hits across six innings while recording four strikeouts. Mac Burke closed out with two scoreless innings and one strikeout.
In game two, Yale took an early lead with an RBI single in the first inning and extended it through solo and two-run home runs by Davis Hanson. Dartmouth’s lone run came when Alejandro Puig scored on a Sam Andersen single in the sixth inning. Kyle Klaric-Schell made his first career start for Dartmouth, giving up four runs over five-and-two-thirds innings while striking out five batters. Nathan Matoush pitched effectively in relief, allowing only one hit over more than two innings.
Reflecting on their performance this season under Interim Head Coach Blake McFadden, Dartmouth finished with a winning home record at Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park (9-6) and remained undefeated at neutral sites.
