Dartmouth baseball finished its regular season series against the Cornell Big Red on April 4, splitting a doubleheader to close out the matchup 1-2 in favor of Cornell.
The outcome holds significance for Dartmouth as it continues its Ivy League campaign. The team now stands at 6-15 overall and 3-6 in conference play.
In the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, Dartmouth lost a close contest, falling to Cornell by a score of 4-2. After taking an early lead in the sixth inning thanks to Henry Murray’s first collegiate home run, Dartmouth was unable to hold off Cornell’s response. Pitcher Nate Isler gave up four runs on six hits over more than six innings. Mac Burke finished the game for Dartmouth, allowing just one hit and striking out one batter.
The second game saw a strong performance from Dartmouth as they defeated Cornell 15-0. The Big Green scored in seven out of nine innings and recorded three multi-run innings. Notable contributions included Milo Suarez hitting his first home run of the season and Mason Smith entering as a pinch hitter with a two-RBI single in the ninth inning. Pitcher Nate Kugler allowed only one hit across seven innings while Kyle Klaris-Schell closed out the final two innings.
Looking ahead, Dartmouth will travel to Massachusetts for a nonconference matchup against Boston College on Wednesday, April 8, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
