The Dartmouth College equestrian team lost to Centenary University 7-3 on March 9, ending its regular season.
The result marks the conclusion of Dartmouth’s schedule before postseason play. The match saw notable performances from Cassidy Exner, Grace Russo, and Camilla Jerng, who each earned points for the team. Exner won over fences with a score of 86-81, improving her record in that event to a team-leading 4-1. On the flat, Russo scored an 84-71 win while Jerng edged out her opponent 81-80, finishing her first collegiate regular season unbeaten on the flat at 5-0.
Head Coach Tenley Walsh said, “We had strong rides across the board today even though the points didn’t fall the way we wanted them to.” Walsh also praised Jerng’s performance: “Camilla has been so impressive start to finish in the flat this year. It was fun to see the team react to her win.”
Looking ahead, Dartmouth will wait for seeding in the ECAC Tournament scheduled to begin March 20 at the College of Charleston. Walsh commented on the team’s preparation: “It was a really good season for our three first years, and it was really important for them to get this road experience before the postseason. We’ve followed this script before, and I have a lot of confidence in this team.”
The upcoming tournament will provide an opportunity for Dartmouth’s riders—especially its first-year members—to build on their experiences from the regular season as they enter postseason competition.
