Dartmouth men’s lacrosse lost 17-16 in overtime to Brown on April 11. The game, held in Providence, saw Dartmouth take an early lead after trailing by two goals at the start.
Brown began with two quick goals but Dartmouth responded with four consecutive scores to end the first quarter ahead. Max Voigt scored first for Dartmouth, followed by Stu Gates, Alex Jessey, and Emmett Paradine.
The teams matched each other in the second quarter with four goals apiece. Dartmouth maintained an 8-6 advantage at halftime thanks to a strong performance from Jessey and Thomas Power.
In the third quarter, both teams combined for 11 goals as Dartmouth extended its lead. Gates opened scoring before Monte Mitchell and Power added more points. Despite a run from Brown late in the period, Dartmouth entered the fourth quarter up by five.
Brown mounted a comeback in the final period, tying the game at 16 before taking a brief lead. Power tied it again with just seconds left in regulation. In overtime, Brown scored on their only shot to secure victory.
Jessey finished with five goals and one assist while Power contributed four goals and three assists for a combined total of thirteen points. Gates scored three times and Paradine twice. Goalie Max Becker made twelve saves; he has recorded 120 saves this season with a record of four wins and six losses during his first year at Dartmouth.
The Big Green forced twenty-three turnovers from Brown, including eight caused turnovers led by Jack Mulholland’s team-best four. Mulholland also had four groundballs while Gates, Thomas Goguen (who had two caused turnovers), Power, and Spencer Reagan each collected three groundballs.
Dartmouth will play its final home game of the season against Cornell at Scully-Fahey Field on Saturday, April 18.
