The Dartmouth men’s tennis team earned a 5-2 victory against Brown on Apr. 13 in its final home match of the season, following a road loss to Yale earlier in the weekend.
The weekend results mark an important point for the No. 71-ranked Big Green as they closed out their home schedule with a strong performance, highlighting both their resilience and depth across singles and doubles play.
Against No. 38 Yale on Friday, Dartmouth started well by taking the doubles point with wins from Malhar Patel and Adrian Treacy (6-3) and Kornel Halmos and Denny Bao (6-1). The match between Miles Groom and Henry Ren was left unfinished with Dartmouth leading. However, Yale responded strongly in singles competition, winning four matches to secure a 4-1 overall victory.
Returning home to Boss Tennis Center for senior day on Sunday, Dartmouth again claimed the doubles point thanks to victories from Ren and Groom (7-6 [7-2]) as well as Patel and Treacy (6-3). Although Brown managed one doubles win on court three, Dartmouth excelled in singles play. After dropping the top spot where Ivan Sodan defeated Ren, Groom quickly leveled with a straight-set win over Lukas Phimvongsa. Treacy delivered a three-set victory over Robert Yang decided by a tiebreaker, while Leo Pade won his match against Elliot Wasserman in two sets. Bao clinched the team result with another straight-set win before Brown added one more point through Noah Hernandez’s three-set victory over Halmos.
Dartmouth will continue its season next Saturday at Cornell before facing Columbia in New York City on Sunday.
