The Dartmouth softball team defeated Cornell 15-14 in a dramatic walk-off victory at home on April 12. The Big Green collected 18 hits and overcame several deficits, including a three-run gap entering the bottom of the seventh inning.
This win marks Dartmouth’s first home victory of the season. The game saw both teams trading leads, with Dartmouth mounting multiple comebacks to ultimately claim the win.
Sydney Herrmann played a key role for Dartmouth, driving in Olivia Schramm with a double in the second inning and later delivering two more runs with a single. After falling behind following Cornell’s five-run fourth inning, Dartmouth rallied back in the fifth, highlighted by Samantha Gresham’s RBI single and Cwen Wilson’s three-run double.
Cornell responded again with a three-run home run in the sixth before Marilyn Beauvais hit her first career grand slam for Dartmouth, putting them ahead once more. In the top of the seventh, Cornell scored five runs to take a late lead, but Dartmouth answered back. Lauren Ben-Ezra and Faby Serna each drove in runs to cut into Cornell’s advantage before Justice Malone tied it up. Schramm kept hopes alive with another hit before Herrmann capped off her standout performance by driving in the winning run.
Herrmann finished with three hits and four RBIs while Beauvais contributed four RBIs from her grand slam. Schramm recorded four hits on the day and Wilson added three RBIs. Isabel Kirby earned the pitching win after returning for relief duties late in the game.
Dartmouth is scheduled to play next against Brown on Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 12:30 p.m.
