Dartmouth women’s lacrosse lost to Brown by a score of 12-9 in Providence on April 11. The game saw Dartmouth take an early lead before Brown regained control and maintained their advantage through the remainder of the match.

The result is significant as it affects Dartmouth’s momentum heading into their final non-conference game. Both teams exchanged goals throughout the first half, with Madeline Egan tying the game at one after Brown opened scoring. Charlotte Myers then gave Dartmouth a brief lead, but Brown responded with two late goals to end the first quarter ahead.

In the second quarter, Samantha Bennett and Mia Puccio each scored for Dartmouth, tying the game at four. However, Brown again pulled ahead until Catherine Erb tied it at six just before halftime. Egan put Dartmouth up early in the third quarter, but Brown responded with four consecutive goals and kept Dartmouth scoreless for the rest of that period.

The fourth quarter saw both teams add two more goals each; Erb scored at 4:27 and Bennett added another late goal with less than two minutes remaining. Despite these efforts, Dartmouth was unable to close the gap.

Goalkeeper Ruby Lucken made eight saves for Dartmouth. The team outshot Brown both in total attempts (32-27) and shots on goal (18-14). Egan, Erb, Bennett, and Puccio each scored twice while Myers contributed one goal along with a team-high three points from her pair of assists.

Maya Kendall recorded 13 draw controls—her seventh game this season reaching double digits in that category—while Lauren Riley and Ellie Burdick were credited with two caused turnovers apiece as part of eight total forced turnovers by Dartmouth.

Dartmouth will finish its non-conference schedule against UMass Lowell on Tuesday, April 14 at Cushing Field.
