College Sports Communicators announced on Apr. 7 that eight members of the Dartmouth swim and dive teams have been named Academic All-District nominees. The recognition was awarded to four athletes from the women’s team and four from the men’s team.
The honor is given to student-athletes who are sophomores or above, maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average, participate in at least 75% of their team’s competitions, finish in the top eight at a conference championship, or represent their team at the National Championship.
Juniors Carinn Bethea, Kathy Jia, Maggie Lambdin, and sophomore Klara Johnsson Stjernstroem were recognized from the women’s team. Bethea scored A-final points in two events during this year’s Ivy League Championship, placing eighth in the 200-yard freestyle and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle. She also recorded three event wins against Columbia and set multiple personal bests during regular season meets such as the Golden Grizzly Classic.
Lambdin claimed sixth place overall in the A-final of the 3-meter dive at Ivy League Championships and earned several podium finishes throughout her junior year. Jia finished sixth overall in the 100-yard backstroke at Ivy League Championships and achieved eleven top-three finishes over her season. Johnsson Stjernstroem opened her sophomore campaign with strong performances on both diving boards across several meets.
On the men’s side, seniors Colton Rasmussen and Everett Tai along with sophomores McCoy Lyman and Jacob Turner received honors for their performances throughout the season. Rasmussen notched multiple school-best times across relay events while Tai secured high placements on both diving boards including wins at key invitationals.
Lyman capped his season by qualifying for NCAA Championships after finishing third overall on the 3-meter board at Ivies. Turner set school records early in his sophomore year before dominating individual medley events throughout major competitions.
The Academic All-District distinction highlights academic achievement alongside athletic performance for college swimmers and divers.
