The City of Lebanon’s Tree Advisory Board announced on May 12 that it will host a community tree planting event in partnership with the Department of Public Works. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, and aims to engage residents in efforts to support a greener and healthier environment.
Organizers say the tree planting day provides an opportunity for community members to contribute directly to Lebanon’s urban forest while beautifying shared spaces and improving environmental health. The activity is open to everyone, regardless of gardening experience.
The event will begin at 9:00am at the skatepark at Riverside Park on Glen Road in West Lebanon and conclude at Veterans Memorial Pool located at 67 Pumping Station Road. Participants are encouraged to bring gloves and children, with shovels and other tools provided onsite. Volunteers may attend for all or part of the morning, with activities typically finishing by noon.
All volunteers are required to complete a City of Lebanon Volunteer Form prior to participating. This measure is intended to ensure proper coordination and safety during the event.
According to organizers, “This community planting day is a hands-on way to contribute to Lebanon’s urban forest, beautify shared spaces, and improve the community’s environmental health. Whether an experienced gardener or a first-time planter, all are welcome to participate. See you Saturday!”
The Tree Advisory Board works closely with the Department of Public Works through education, advocacy, and volunteerism in order to promote growth and preservation within Lebanon’s urban forest.
