Construction of the Miracle Mile Water Main Improvements Project is scheduled to commence on April 17, 2023.  Two-way traffic, and access to businesses, will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. Construction will be completed by October 27, 2023.

The project consists of installing 6,175 feet of 12-inch ductile iron water main along Mechanic Street extending from the east side of the Terry Dudley Bridge to 220 Mechanic Street (Gardener’s Supply Company) and 225 Mechanic Street (Service Credit Union). A new sprinkler service and/or water service will be installed for each existing service connection to the property line. The water main will be located in the center of the eastbound lane from the Terry Dudley Bridge to Poverty Lane. The water main will switch to the westbound lane from Poverty Lane to O’Reilly Auto Parts and then cross the road to the shoulder of the eastbound lane. The water main will cross the bridge and extend to Gardener’s Supply Company and the Service Credit Union.

Phase 1 includes water mains from Poverty Lane to the Tractor Supply entrance road. Phase 2 extends the water main to the Terry Dudley Bridge. Phase 3 extends the water main from Poverty Lane to Gardener’s Supply Company and the Service Credit Union.

In 2024, the full width of the road along the project corridor will be paved.

The project also includes an Additive Alternate to construct a sidewalk from Price Chopper to Poverty Lane along the north side of Mechanic Street.
