The Town of Sunapee is seeking qualified candidates to fill the new role of Code Compliance Officer (CCO). This full time (FSLA) exempt position has a competitive salary and excellent benefits, including health, dental, life and disability insurance, retirement plan and paid time off. Starting pay is incumbent upon qualifications and experience.
Reporting to the Town Manager, and working in collaboration with the Planning and Assessment Offices, the CCO will evaluate construction and land use projects for permitted approval, subject to the enforcement of compliance with federal, state and town regulations, codes and ordinances. These include but are not limited to building permits, land use and disturbances, erosion control, vegetation cutting and removal, septic zoning compliance, zoning variances and other circumstances requiring authorization.
This position involves significant public interaction requiring a positive approach with diplomacy, fairness and resolve. Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, technical building and regulatory interpretation skills, and a proficiency with technology are essential for the CCO to successfully fulfill the role.
Qualification requirements include a college degree in civil engineering, construction project management, state or municipal zoning enforcement, law enforcement, law, public administration or a closely related field or equivalent, at least five (5) years of experience in a supervisory capacity, or equivalent education and experience.
