City of Lebanon: September 11 Remembrance Ceremony

Cassa

City of Lebanon issued the following announcement on August 31.

On September 11, 2021, The Lebanon Fire Department will be conducting a remembrance ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the tragic events that transpired during the terrorist attack on 09/11/01. LFD, along with the entire American Fire Service, will forever remember the remarkable loss of 343 uniformed members of the FDNY, as well as the other 79 law enforcement officers and emergency medical technicians. Their heroic actions and unwavering selfless service saved countless lives that day. We, like so many other Americans, must never forget their sacrifice.

All are welcome to join the memorial observance in front of the Lebanon Fire Department Station 1, 12 South Park, Lebanon on September 11. A memorial will be housed inside Bay 4 and members will be present from sunup until sundown. The formal ceremony will begin at 8:15 am and will be concluded at 8:46 am. Following, as part of the meritorious tradition in the fire service, all first responders lost will be remembered individually with a reading of their name and the ceremonial ringing of the bells to signify their last alarm and subsequent end of tour of duty. The end of remembrance culminates with the lighting of two spotlights illuminating into the sky to signify the twin towers and all innocent lives tragically taken on that horrible day.

We respectfully ask that spectators remain cognizant of the somber nature of the remembrance event. Pictures and videos are welcome; however, we politely request talking and other noises are maintained at respectful levels.
