Town of Washington: Sacred Earth Drum at the Farmer's Market - Sept 25th

Farmers market

Town of Washington issued the following announcement on September 18.

The Sacred Earth Drum has been together for over 25 years, singing at Pow-Wows, Native American Socials, and other events for the People.  Sacred Earth’s members are comprised of Mohawk, Mi q’Maq, Abenaki, Ojibwe, and other ancestry, which is reflected in their large variety of inter-tribal songs.

Sacred Earth will be drumming at the Washington Town Common at noon on September 25th, during the Farmer’s Market, to raise awareness of OPNAAC’s mission.

OPNAAC  (Organization for the Preservation of Native American Artifacts and Culture) was co-founded in 2016 by 20+ year Washington resident Peter Giove (Searching Owl), a Mohawk Elder and 3 time purple heart from Vietnam, and Doria Kutrubes, who is adopted Blackfoot.

OPNAAC’s mission is to raise awareness of the First People of Turtle Island, preserving the stone-works they left behind and their Culture, learning what it means to be caretakers of Mother Earth.

OPNAAC invites all people to learn about Native Culture, their songs and passions, to celebrate our differences and similarities through drumming, songs, and sharing experiences.
