Town of Newport: Upcoming Projects

Pt740 upcoming projects1920x1080 bzagddz

Town of Newport issued the following announcement on September 29.

The Town has just arranged to have the roofing replaced on both the Town Offices and the Old Court House.  This work is scheduled to begin at approx. 8:00 am on Monday, October 11th, 2021.  The project will continue through the end of that week or October 15th, 2021.  Workers will be on site from approx. 8:00 am until approx. 6:00 pm each day.

Provisions have been made for the contractor to place tarps on the grounds around the work areas to collect roofing debris as it is removed from the buildings.  Debris will be loaded into dumpsters and trucked off site for disposal.  The grounds will be swept periodically with a magnet to collect loose roofing nails.  Despite these best efforts, please keep your eyes open for any nails that might be missed.

During this particular week, we would ask that our staff park their cars in the traditional parking spaces located along the eastern side of the lot.  Please reserve spaces nearest to the building for members of the public that might be visiting our building.  You may also choose to park on Main Street or in the “County” lot at the corner of Sunapee and Park Streets.  As the project continues, additional spaces around the Town Office lot will reopen - look for further direction as indicated by cones and/or signage.

Access to the Town Offices will be maintained throughout the project either from the front of the building and/or at least one of the traditional rear entrances.  Handicap access should also be maintained throughout the project but may be interrupted for short periods of time.  A project safety officer will be monitoring that access to minimize any disruption of that service.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance helping us to get this important work done.
