City of Lebanon: Help Us Keep You Safe This Winter

36

City of Lebanon issued the following announcement on February 8.

On behalf of the Lebanon Fire Department, thank you to everyone that has been helping to keep the city’s hundreds of fire hydrants clear of snow. This simple act keeps our community and your neighborhoods safer during the winter months.

Although it is not a requirement, the fire department encourages all residents to take an extra moment while clearing snow from their driveways to help us remove snow from the fire hydrants. Removing snow from a hydrant near your home helps us in the event of a fire in your neighborhood. While city staff will always work on snow removal, it could take up to two weeks to remove snow from around every hydrant in the community after a single snowfall.  When there are multiple snow events in a week, on top of regular day-to-day tasks, removal of snow by city staff is not always possible. Clearing a path approximately three feet around a hydrant will give the fire department room to work should the need arise. Every minute counts when there is an emergency, help us help you.
