PREPARING FOR TOMORROW'S WINTER STORM | Town of Sunapee

Hello Town of Sunapee Residents,

The Highway Department is prepared for whatever Mother Nature may throw at us over the next few days. All of our vehicles & equipment are ready, the winter sand & salt stockpiles are full, and the department is at full staff. Please help us out by staying off the roads during the storm unless travel is absolutely necessary.

This is also just a reminder to everyone that our plow routes typically take 4 - 4.5 hours to complete during the average winter storm with a snowfall rate of less than 1" per hour. Our plow route times will likely

increase for this storm as snowfall rates are forecast to be as much as 3" per hour with poor visibility, and this may also result with more than 3" of snow on the Town's roadways at any given time.

Most important, please make sure that you are prepared for a long duration storm event (i.e. greater than 24 hours) which could result with widespread power outages, and keep in mind that there is no parking on any Town roadways during a winter storm or in the winter months.

Thank you all in advance for your patience and cooperation as we work through this storm. Please stay safe and have a Happy Holidays.

Sincerely,

The Highway Department Crew
