Grant Received to Support West Lebanon Economic Development Project | City of Lebanon

On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, the City of Lebanon, Congresswoman Kuster, and Senator Shaheen issued the following press release, "Shaheen, Kuster Secure Resources for West Lebanon Economic Development Project". The $2,329,000 grant will support West Lebanon Main Street Sidewalk and Intersection Construction Project.

Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) – a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee – and Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) are celebrating a $2,329,000 grant for the city of Lebanon to make critical infrastructure upgrades in West Lebanon. The grant secured by Shaheen and Kuster through the congressionally directed spending (CDS) process was included in the fiscal year (FY) government funding bill that was signed into law last month and will invest in West Lebanon to revitalize a deteriorating downtown. The project will improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow to cut down on traffic delays during peak periods, eliminate street flooding due to inadequate stormwater infrastructure, and spark the economic revitalization of the community. This project will contribute to public safety and increase transportation and recreation options for residents and commuting workers.

“I’m glad to see these federal funds I helped secure headed to West Lebanon to support key infrastructure updates that will improve traffic flow and revitalize downtown. Investing in local infrastructure fosters economic growth and helps to transform Granite State communities,” said Shaheen. “I look forward to seeing this project’s positive impact in West Lebanon, and I’ll keep working in the Senate to ensure communities across New Hampshire have the resources necessary to support future growth and development.”

“Investing in the resiliency and the financial well-being of our communities is critical to growing our economy and supporting the future of our state,” said Kuster. “These resources will help make important infrastructure improvements in West Lebanon that will spur economic activity and help to lift up the community. I’m excited to have delivered this funding and look forward to the transformation that this project will make in West Lebanon.”

“This is another example of a positive collaborative project between the City and the Federal government to make tangible improvements in the lives of our citizens by improving our neighborhoods and enhancing the economic vitality of our region,” said Shaun Mulholland, City Manager of Lebanon. “Senator Shaheen and Congresswoman Kuster have taken a leadership role to help improve our City and the region as a whole.”
