Canaan, NH Fire Department & Emergency Management issued the following announcement on Aug. 1.

Canaan Fire month in review, July 2021.

During the month of July, Canaan Fire responded to a total of 34 incidents:

Alarm Activation - 2

EMS Assist - 6

Inspections - 2

Motor Vehicle Accident - 2

Mutual Aid to Enfield, fire alarm - 1

Mutual Aid to Enfield, boat w/ fuel spill - 1

Odor of Propane - 1

Outside Detail - 1

Power Line Down - 2

Road Hazard - 2

Service Call - 3

Smoke Investigation - 1

Station Coverage, Enfield - 1

Tree in Road - 4

Tree on Wires - 4

Water Rescue Response - 1

Out of these 34 incidents, 4 were in the Town of Dorchester and 1 was in the Town of Orange.

One monthly meeting and two truck checks were held.The Firefighters Association has been very busy getting prepared for annual Old Home Days. Items are being collected for the auction and repairs were made to the dunk tank to get it ready for the weekend. Firefighters provided standby coverage for the annual Canaan fireworks. Personnel attended the Grafton Independence Day celebration with Engine 1. A new roof ladder was placed in service on Engine 1 to replace a 10 year old ladder. The Chief and Assistant Chief have been working in conjunction with the Town Administrator on the budget for next year and capital improvement plan.
